Prenatal Matwork

This hands-on presentation will outline STOTT PILATES exercise variations designed for women who have reached their second trimester of pregnancy. Exercise considerations for those in their first and third trimester will also be discussed, taking into account the many changes that happen to the body during pregnancy. Exercises using the STOTT PILATES Spine Supporter/Arc Barrel, Flex-Band exerciser and Stability Ball that are appropriate to pregnancy will be included, as well as cues and corrections to help ensure safety and effectiveness.

Intensive Sculpting Challenge New Content!

Build more challenge and diversity with this Level 4 Flex-Band workshop. You will learn how to challenge core and peripheral strength with the resistance provided by the Flex-Band® exerciser and increase exercise intensity in the areas of neuromuscular coordination, balance, strength and flexibility. Shoulder Girdle Stability & Function

This lecture will explore the anatomy and biomechanics involved in the normal healthy functioning of the shoulder girdle, some of the interruptions that can occur to the ideal functioning of this area and exercise progressions to restore function, prepare for specific activities and enhance performance. First, the available movements and typical movement patterns of the shoulder girdle will be broken down analyzing scapular movement, humeral movement and relevant muscular action. Then, common abnormal or dysfunctional movement patterns will be addressed. Finally, exercise progressions that can be used to rebuild normal muscle action and movement patterning will be outlined, as well as shoulder girdle exercises that can challenge and promote optimal performance.

Split Pedal Stability Chair

This workshop will introduce participants to a variety of exercises on the STOTT PILATES Split-Pedal Stability Chair. The capabilities of the Chair will be highlighted, and all its features will be utilized (including the handles and the split pedal function) in the context of a well-rounded workout. The Chair offers the opportunity to do functional exercises working against spring resistance in a variety of positions, notably standing, and an opportunity to train core stability while working bilaterally, unilaterally or reciprocally with the limbs. Cues and corrections for safety and effectiveness are also covered.

Teaching Reformer to First Timers

The FIRST session may be the most important group Reformer class you teach. This workshop will give you the tools to ensure this class is motivating, stimulating and will keep your first-time clients coming back for more. Selected STOTT PILATES Reformer exercises will be examined with an eye to maintaining pace and flow so members 'feel' the workout, while still ensuring proper technique. The use of demonstration, imagery and concise cueing and correcting will be discussed while focusing on group safety in the studio.

Prenatal Reformer

This innovative workshop will help you take Moms-to-be from the traditional Matwork variations to modifications on the Reformer. Drawing on the latest medical information and ACOG guidelines, anatomical and physiological changes, risk factors and movement considerations will be discussed with an eye to providing a safe and effective workout. Appropriate STOTT PILATES exercise adaptations will be explored using the Reformer in innovative and beneficial ways. Workouts will be concentrated on second trimester concerns, including the client's pre-pregnancy fitness level, health concerns and fitness goals, although considerations for those in first and third trimesters will also be addressed.

3-D Balance

This workshop increases the challenge and benefit of the Intermediate Matwork exercises by adapting them to the Stability Ball. Postural Analysis and it's Application to Pilates Exercises

This hands on workshop will outline the importance of postural analysis in programming STOTT PILATES workouts. Ideal posture as well as flat back, sway back and kyphosis-lordosis posture types will be reviewed. How muscle imbalances typically manifest in static posture will be covered and participants will practice conducting postural analysis. Finally, common pilates exercise choices and modifications to accommodate these imbalances and work toward restoring balance in the musculature over time will be explored.
