All of our
mind-body exercise professionals came to Interlude Spa with previous
training in health, exercise and movement disciplines. As individuals,
they offer unique talents and experiences. As a unified team, we strive
to provide our clients with a consistent programming message with
the end result being happy, healthy, participants.
Kim Kraushar
Kim Kraushar has built a reputation as a leader in the health and wellness industry. Kim as studied at York University (B.S.A Dance/ B. Ed.) and Dalhousie University ( B.Sc. Kinesiology) as well as continued her training with STOTT Pilates® Certified Instructor Trainer, Yamuna Body Rolling Certified Instructor Trainer and is a Certified Franklin Method Instructor. Kim has fostered a love and respect for the body and a desire to teach and share her knowledge with others. She is proud to be one of the first YBR and STOTT Pilates® Licensed Certification Centers in the country and over the past 8 years has trained hundreds of health and fitness professionals throughout Canada.
Rhonda MacVicar
Rhonda has been a fitness professional at the Interlude Spa for over 16 years. She taught aerobics, step aerobics and aqua fitness before concentrating her training in STOTT Pilates®. She is currently certified in Matwork, Reformer and Injuries and Special Populations with additional training in Stability Chair. She believes a mindful approach to exercise is the most effective way to achieve your fitness and lifestyle goals.
Ulla Beirbach
Ulla was born and raised in Vienna, Austria and made her move to Canada in 1993. After graduating with honours from ICT Northumberland College (Massage Therapy) in 2002, she came to work at the Interlude Spa. As a massage therapist and retired ballet teacher Ulla's love for movement and her passion to better understand the body immediately drew her to the mind-body conditioning course being offered at the Interlude Spa. Ulla is the Interlude's first Massage Therapist/STOTT Pilates® instructor/Yamuna Body Rolling Practitioner.
Jackie Vacca
Jackie has been teaching dance for 26 years. She began studying STOTT Pilates® in 2003 in a personal effort to refocus her mind and body. The effects were so far reaching in her own body; she wanted to share her knowledge with others. Jackie brings her love for the movement arts, her passion to share knowledge with others and her gift for finding unique ways to make exercise fun to all her classes.
Jacinte Armstrong
Jacinte Armstrong's first introduction to Pilates was through dance training at New World School of the Arts, in Miami, FL where she studied classical Pilates with Elaine Wright, who was a student of Kathy Grant. Since then she has trained in Stott Pilates with Kim Krausher at the Interlude Spas in Dartmouth and Halifax, where she has been an instructor since 2001. She is certified in the full Mat and Reformer repertoires, as well as in Cadillac, Chair and Barrels. Her teaching style is influenced by dance training and by concepts of Developmental Movement, Bartenieff Fundamentals, Laban Movement Analysis, and the work of anatomist Irene Dowd. She has a keen interest in kinesiology, visualization and imagery, dynamic posture and alignment, and in optimizing strength and mobility throughout the body.
Jackie Gallant
Jackie graduated in 1993 from Universitè de Montréal with a bachelor degree in Physiotherapy. As a Physiotherapist she worked her first year in Ottawa before moving to Dartmouth in September 1994. Upon moving to Nova Scotia she continued her career as a Physiotherapist but continued her post-graduate education in an effort to provide the best care to her patients for this reason she decided to get involved in Pilates. In 2005 Jackie obtained her Mat Certification at the Interlude Spa and is currently working towards her Reformer Certification. Since starting STOTT Pilates® Jackie has applied her knowledge towards treating her Physiotherapy clients and in January 2006 she began teaching at the Interlude Spa. Jackie offers the possibility to learn Pilates® in both official languages and in her spare time she is involved in Tae Kwon do and Triathlons along with may other activities.
Ocean Samuel
Ocean began her journey in fitness in the weight room helping people achieve
their fitness goals using a combination of cardio, stretches, and weight
lifting techniques. Since then she has successfully completed certification
courses in Gymnastics, Aquarobics, and Step classes, until she finally found
and settled into her passion in the fitness world - Pilates. Since
completing her Mat 1 Certification, Ocean recently tackled Cardiolates and
Reformer training. In her spare time Ocean focuses her energy on her own
training routine which is a combination of Pilates, Yoga, and Tai Chi. Eager
to share her knowledge on postural habits, tendencies and alignment with the
world, Ocean looks forward to seeing you in classes at the Interlude in the
future.
